Each summer, more than 100 high school students from across the world meet at Boston University for a 2-week investigative reporting workshop with NECIR. Students get hands-on training in investigative journalism while exploring Boston and getting a taste of the American college experience. Our alumni return to their high schools and communities with the critical eye and technical skills to investigate the world around them. Many go on to study journalism and related disciplines at some of the best undergraduate programs in the country.
Through the support of our own revenue, foundation funding, and supporters like you, NECIR has begun to provide full and partial scholarships for our workshops to students who could not otherwise afford them. This fund ensures that the future of our training programs, and indeed the future of investigative reporting itself, will include promising young journalists from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
